Title: pecinawây | Mekwac | ohte nikahn kespâyo | Client: Ermineskin Cree Nation
A three part documentary series produced by Ermineskin Cree Nation, featuring music by Grammy nominated Northern Cree.
EP1 pecinawây (past) is the oral history of one of Canada’s largest Cree Nations. From a turbulent past to the cultural practices that remain a foundation of the community, Elders and Community Leaders come together to share these stories and teachings with the next generation.
EP2 Mekwac (present) uncovers the physical history and artifacts of Indigenous communities that remain to this day. Focused on the western prairies and rocky mountains, an Indigenous-led team of archeologists and Elders visit teepee circles, medicine wheels, constellations, and discuss the consultation efforts to protect these sites.
EP3 From Residential School to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, ohte nikahn kespâyo (future) is the story of former Member of Parliament, Treaty 6 Grand Chief, UN Delegate, and Ermineskin Cree Nation Elder, Dr. Wilton Littlechild.
